Wilkins, ya beat me to it. I am very conservative on the matter, although I wouldn't mind a scorpion or a spider on my shoulder. _________________ "Knowledge is power, so everybody download some more eBooks" - WBB

REPOSTS TO START
If a person has 100,000 holes in them, kinda says something about their personality. I see it as a form of rebellion against others and themselves. I mean why pain for something you dont need?
Tatoos. Ryan you get a tatoo, I'll blow your arms off kthanks Smile
Its like a person advertising adult content on their cars. Pretty much portrays part of their personality same goes towards tatoos and other things. |

Yeah, moderation and the like. Why pain for something you don't need... because you want it. Why pay for something you don't need like water chemicals and computers...because you want them. _________________ "Knowledge is power, so everybody download some more eBooks" - WBB

But on a serious note. If someone is going to tat up a huge arse demonic looking thing onto them. Questions what their into. |

No it doesn't. It blatantly outlines what they're into. Just like if you get a cross or portrait of JC on you.

So? Everyone is different. Everyone has different preferences.
I plan on getting a tattoo when I'm older. Does that make me a bad, disgusting person? I certainly don't think so.
I also want to get my ears pierced more than once, and possibly even stretched. And I wanted my lip and eyebrow too.
You'd just finished telling Wilkins off about him hating emos and their style, and now you're going on about how you hate people who have piercings and tattoos.
EDIT: this is to Ben, btw. _________________

Eliza, you'd go to jail for terrorism if you ever went to the airport.
Seriously(/curiously) why would you want to get your ears stretched? _________________ "Knowledge is power, so everybody download some more eBooks" - WBB

You tell me where I said I hate people with tatoos and I will be quiet. I don't hate these people who do you think I am. I'm just stating it often relates to what their personality is at times.
By the way if you call yourself a christian read your bible on this topic.

I would want to get my ears stretched because I like the look of a SMALL stretcher. I didn't mean those massive holes. Just a small one is what I want.

And Ben, sorry, I used bad wording. But the point is still the same, and it still relates back to everything you said in the emo discussion.
There may be a reason why people want piercings or tattoos. Maybe some people like the pain of a piercing. Sometimes it's a hobby for people. It's a way to express who you are.
Just because someone likes to have a bit of metal in their face, or ink on their skin, it doesn't make them bad. In fact, piercings are jewellery.
And where would I read "do not have piercings or tattoos" in the bible? Give me a passage eh? _________________

""God gave you a body that is created in His image. Why would you think you can improve on it with a picture? There is an Old Testament verse that proscribes them, and I believe that it is still valid.
Leviticus 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
The New Testament also thoroughly affirms that your body is a temple. Do not mark your body, as it was bought for the ultimate price by Jesus. It does not belong to you, it's His.""
^^That's a quote, the button's being gay.
And now, from the mouth of Vicki.. (with editting of her grammar..)
We have to be different to the unsaved, in the new testament in 1Cor 3 and 6 near the ends of these chapters the bible speaks about our bodies belonging to God. If we are God's, it is up to God what we do with our bodies. We can't just choose to cut etc without his permission, of which I'm not really sure he would give. Our bodies are the temple of the holy spirit.
When in doubt, and you can't find it in the Bible.. ask God. And Vicki. |

There was a big in depth conversation about this on the ChristianRock.net forums. From what I can remember there was a mention that Leviticus has changed a lot over the years and that the blood of Christ removed a lot of the rules that are in there.
Though, my opinion, you can pierce your ears, get a tattoo (really depends on the subject matter though) if you want to, it's your choice. Though if you do something that's going to permanently change your body, then really think it through and pray about it.
Brings me back to what Wilkins said in my blog post, if you have a cross on your arm or something, then someone may see it and spark a conversation up about it. |

all this arguing about reliogious legalism makes me want to get out books on how to avoid religious legalism.
one of paul's letters says that if your brother is when you do not eat certain types of foods, you should then eat with him to avoid conflict, or something like that. it's basically the same sort of thing...
this is just me being entirely subjective; i don't think tattoos or piercings are of a defiling nature, but i don't think facial piercings serve any real purpose... ears, they add a bit, depending on the person; but i'm yet to see a person that looks better (to me) with their iron in.
i guess it could be one of those conforming things as well, you only do it to conform to something... |

Personally I don't like face piercings, ears obviously and nose piercings aren't so bad though. Working at Heathers I saw and served so many people with so many face piercings and I can tell you, to me, it looked so tacky. But they were happy and excited to buy more body jewelery and most of them were such nice people.
It's totally an image thing like when people would come into the shop with heaps of piercings I'd be a bit intimidated but once they'd start talking to me i realised that they just want to be noticed and they want to be seen as different. It's their way of being individual.
It is such a personal thing.
My sister-in-law has 2 tattoos and one of them is my brother's name written on her wrist. I find that so sweet. I don't think I'd mind having maybe a small tattoo but I don't think I could stand the pain. I'm pretty squeamish.
But yeah I think it's pretty rude to judge people on what they decide to be like. They handled the pain of it all and it has nothing to do with anyone else.
Even though it may look tacky it's their choice. _________________ [♡]*ironee shoop* |

Very nice, Debbie. That's what I think. They may not look very good to some people, but it doesn't mean that they are any less of a person for having such modifications on themselves. It just expresses their individuality, like you said.
and Heathers, <333. I love that shop. I go in there all the time. LUCKY DIPS FOR THE WIN! _________________

Yeah, Walters. Like me... I'm gonna get a tattoo. Not some huge one, but a crown of thorns with LS in the middle, and under it having Rom 12:1 _________________
